Southern Cultural Tour
DAY 01: ARRIVAL TO ADDIS ABABA
Arrival at Bole international Airport (Addis Ababa) where you will be assisted by Exotic Ethiopia tours and Travel representative and transferred to Hotel.
DAY 02 : DRIEV TO BALE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast Drive to Bale Goba the Head quarter of the national is found. You will be welcomed and introduced to your trekking guide and scout. Easy afternoon around the national park and you may have a chance to spote some endemic animals such as : Menelik’s Bushbuck and the Mountain Nyala. The area is also paradise for bird lovers. Overnight Camping in Bale Goba (easy walk 2h around the camp)
DAY 03: TREKKING TO ADELAY
On this day you will be trek from Dinsho to the woodland part of the national park. You will have a chance to spot endemic birds and mammals of Ethiopia. The area has an amazing natural beauty. (5-6 hrs walk 18 km. Overnight camping. 3,400masl ).
DAY 04: TREKKING TO SODOTA
Trek from Adelay to Sodota .Beside the outstanding scenery this day you will have a chance to see the rarest and endemic Mamal the Ethiopian wolf and lots of prey birds. After having a nice rest at the ‘Habera’ waterfall proceed to Sodota campsite for overnight. (3,500masl. 6-7 hrs walk 20km.)
DAY 05: TREKKING TO WASEMA
Trek to Wasema through a beautiful landscape with stunning views. Pass through Mararo Valley where the Lammergeyer and Verraux Eagles keep nests. Overnight Camping. (3,900masl 5-6 hrs walk 18 km).
DAY 06: TREKKING TO RAFU
Today trek will take you through a beautiful landscape. Close to Rafu you will enjoy panoramic view of Rafu Rock pillars which are caused by volcanic lava flow. (5-6 hrs walk 18 km. Overnight Camping 4,000masl ) Overnight Camping.
DAY 07: TREKKING TO SANNETI
Morning after breakfast start the hike and pass through the Second highest point of Ethiopia Tullu Deemtu (4377 masl). The vehicle will pick us up and we will be driving back to Bale Goba for overnight.
DAY 08: ADDIS ABABA
After breakfast drive back to Addis Ababa. After lunch you may visit the Mercato for some shoping and late evening you will have a farewell dinner and Departure home.
DAY 01: ADDIS ABABA
Exotic Ethiopia Tour and travel representative will pick you up from Bole International Airport and transfer you to the preferred Hotel. Depending on your arrival time a city tour of Addis Ababa will be arranged. The tour will include the National Museum, The Holy Trinity Church, Entoto Kidane Mihret Church, and the biggest open market Mercato.
DAY 02: ADDIS ABABA TO ARBA MINCH
This Morning depart to Arbaminch the gate way to south Ethiopia cultural and natural wilderness attractions. Along the way you will visit the worthwhile scenery of landscapes, local villages and life styles. On your arrival you will be transferred to the preferred Hotel /lodge for overnight.
DAY 03 : DORZE VILLAGE AND THE CROCODILE MARKET
Morning you will drive some 30 km to the village of the Dorze tribes who settled on the top of mount of Guge (the highest peak in the region) overlooking down the Great Rift Valley. This tribes are famed for their unique house style designed in an elephant shape, traditional weaving, and their typical African style dancing.
Afternoon; boat trip on Lake Chamo; This Lake is known for its aquatic life such as the common Crocodiles, Hippopotamus and enormous aquatic birds
Overnight –Arba Minch.
DAY 04: ARBAMINCH - KEY AFER MARKET – JINKA
Morning you will drive to Jinka through semi desert land of Tsemay and Benna tribes until a stop to Keyafer; colorful tribal market on which held every Thursday where you can see the Tsemay, Ari and Benae people. Late afternoon proceed to further to Jinka. Overnight – Jinka.
DAY 05: MAGO NATIONAL PARK -MURSI TRIBES - TURMI
This day early morning, drive to Mago National Park through the natural forests and undulating terrains across the Mago River. Visit the Mursi village, famously known for pricing their Lower lips and ear lobe for insertion of wooden and terracotta discs for beauty purpose. After having lunch in Jinka ; drive to Turmi home of the Hammer tribes. On the way; visit the colorful Dimeka Market (Every Tuesday/ Saturday) small village town in the districts of Hammer tribe. Late in the afternoon visit the Hammer villages to discover their lifestyle at home and their traditional practices. Overnight– Turmi.
DAY 06 : TURMI – KARO – TURMI
The Hammer’s are known for their unique body painting from organic homemade color as decoration .They are also known for wearing colorful ornaments on their body, bull-jumping ceremonies and evangadi dances. They are one of the most known and second dominant tribe in the southern Ethiopia. After breakfast; drive from Turmi to Karo to visit the villages of Korcho tribe. The Karo tribes are mainly known for their special hairstyle and body paintings. Afternoon drive back to Tumri and visit the nearby Hammer village Overnight– Turmi.
DAY 07: TURMI – KONSO – YABELO
In the morning drive to Yabello, on the way you will visit the world Heritage town Konso . Konso, one of the most interesting cultural sites and registered as world heritage site of Ethiopia. Continue driving to the border city of Yabello on the way you will also visit the Elbore tribes. Overnight– Yabello.
DAY 08 YABELO – AWASSA
Morning you will take an excursion to Elsod creator salt lake to experience how the Borena nomads extract muddy solt to their cattle’s. Continue driving to the southern Nations and nationality capital, Awassa for overnight.
DAY 09: AWASSA – LANGANNO
Awassa is one of the lake side cities in Ethiopia. After having breakfast in your hotel you will walk along the lake side, this tour will give you a chance to visit the typical culinary tour to the famous fish market in Ethiopia. You may get a chance to test different cousins’ of fish foods. After lunch drive to Langano .Overngith in one of the best lodge in the area.
DAY 10 LANGANO – ADDIS ABABABA- DEPARTURE
Morning, you will have a free time at the lake side in Langano with your own interest of activities. Afternoon drive back to Addis Ababa; Evening you will have a fair well dinner at one of the traditional restaurant and departure home.
